Best Weapons in Protect the Border

Choose the best Protect the Border weapon for close defense, flexible road work, overwatch, or sustained lane holding with provisional role picks.

The best Protect the Border weapon is the one that covers your assigned range without duplicating your class. Public first-party data confirms names, types, descriptions, prices, and several class loadouts, but it does not publish damage or a reproducible combat tier. These are provisional role picks, not official rankings.

Quick role picks

Close checkpoint: SPAS 12

Its official combat-shotgun identity fits a tight approach. Effective range and damage still need live testing.

Role inference
Flexible rifle: HK416, G36, FAMAS, or TAR 21

Choose by current handling and class overlap rather than assuming a hidden stat winner.

Conditional group
Overwatch: SVD or 50 CAL

Official descriptions identify long-range marksman and anti-materiel roles.

Role supported
Sustained lane: PKM, M249, or RPK

Machine-gun identities fit a stable lane; PKM is the only one with a public 100-round belt statement.

Performance needs testing

Best close-range choice

SPAS 12 is the clearest standalone close-range candidate because the creator calls it a combat shotgun and it sits in the lowest checked price tier at 99 Robux. Pyromaniac’s exclusive flamethrower is another close-control identity, but it comes through a class pass and lacks public range, fuel, and damage fields.

Use close weapons only where the map and team allow. Standing in the open with a shotgun because it ranks well at the booth is a role error, not a weapon failure.

Best flexible rifle group

HK416, G36, FAMAS, and TAR 21 are the straightforward standalone rifle group. HK416’s description calls it fast and tactical; G36 and FAMAS are assault rifles; TAR 21 is a bullpup. No public first-party statistics prove one universally stronger.

Class overlap can decide value. SAS already carries HK416, and Hazmat already carries FAMAS. If you use those classes, G36 or TAR 21 adds more variety. If you play a class without a flexible rifle, the cheaper FAMAS or TAR 21 may solve the role without a higher-priced product.

Best overwatch group

SVD has an official long-range marksman identity, while 50 CAL has an anti-materiel identity. Ghillie Sniper already includes SVD, making the class a more complete overwatch purchase for a dedicated role. The 50 CAL pass adds a different officially named weapon type on top of the normal loadout.

Do not call 50 CAL the boss winner without a controlled damage test. “Anti-materiel” is a creator description, not a published boss multiplier.

Best sustained-fire group

PKM, M249, and RPK are the clearest lane group. PKM’s official 100-round belt is a useful known field. M249 is also the Juggernaut standard weapon, and RPK is described as a pass-exclusive light machine gun. Community tier pages commonly favor this group for later nights, but their exact ordering is not independently reproducible.

Sustained fire needs position and reload coverage. A player who abandons the lane or blocks sightlines can make the strongest belt-fed option ineffective.

Where special weapons fit

RPG is an official rocket-launcher extra, Minigun is an official heavy extra, and Ray Gun is an experimental energy weapon. Their public descriptions do not provide splash radius, spin-up, heat, reload, or damage. Do not rank them by price: Ray Gun’s 799 Robux price is a store fact, not proof of strength.

Test special weapons after the squad already covers ordinary close, flexible, and long-range jobs. A novelty purchase should not leave the team without a reliable lane option.

Compare under controlled conditions

Use the same class, approximate night, party size, position, and target distance. Record aim control, reload exposure, lane coverage, and teammate support. Avoid deriving exact damage from a changing health bar without a repeatable method.

If Infinite Ammo is active, label the test. Its official description says the reserve never runs out, which changes resource pressure and can make a high-consumption weapon look better than it does for a player without the pass.

Best weapons FAQ

What is the best cheap weapon?

FAMAS, TAR 21, and SPAS 12 share the 99 Robux checked tier. Choose rifle flexibility or close shotgun identity by role.

What is best for long range?

SVD and 50 CAL have the strongest official long-range identities. Current damage and handling decide between them.

Is Ray Gun best because it costs 799 Robux?

No. Price does not prove performance, and public combat statistics are absent.

Should a Juggernaut buy M249?

Juggernaut already includes M249. The standalone pass mainly adds it to other class loadouts.
